Viewers of Leah White Home can perfectly visualize her belief that designing a room that feels inviting, creates a presence, and is timely is essential. We partnered with her on entry door hardware for her brand-new house so she could have something that makes a statement when people first enter her home. Follow along to see how it turned out!
What led you to feature Nostalgic Warehouse Entry Handlesets in this project?
Quality and curb appeal were the main factors. Nostalgic Warehouse offers both, and the results were terrific.
How long did this project take to complete?
The entire home took 18 months to build, from breaking ground to move-in ready. One of the last stages was installing the front doors and hardware so as not to impact or damage them during construction. This final step really pulled the house together.
Did you learn any tips and tricks about entry door hardware that would benefit others?
A quality look and feel really make a great first impression for guests and family visiting your home.
What is your design style, and how do you incorporate those decorating decisions within your home?
My style is Traditional mixed with French styles and a touch of antique accents. This combination creates my unique look, which doesn’t fit into just one theme.
Where do you find design inspiration?
Part of it is simply having a creative mind. I am also inspired by brands who create beautiful pieces to add to a home. The last aspect is trial and error: design, step back, revisit, and sometimes revise or remove. Not all spaces need to be over-decorated; leaving some space between décor is also important.
When starting a project, how do you organize and plan for it?
Try to focus on the space, considering the surroundings and how the overall colors, textures, and theme will tie together.
How did/do you choose a house to buy and renovate?
We have done it differently over our home journey. Our second home was a significant renovation, but we couldn’t get certain elements we wanted, so we decided to build. However, even building takes consideration to balance ideal needs within a budget.
What are some tips for readers who wish to transform their homes?
Make a list of what you want out of a space and what you don’t want. Then, try to clear the space to have a fresh, unobstructed view. Be willing to move pieces around until it feels right.
Are you working on any other properties or projects besides your own home?
Interestingly, the property we built included a cottage house. While we haven’t started, it will be a fun project requiring a lot of work.
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
Consider designing as a continuous journey. The joy of a home is having places you can change based on seasons, new pieces, or just to create a new atmosphere. Don’t hold on too tight to furniture and pieces that no longer fit your functional or design needs.
Thank you, Leah! We can’t wait to see what’s next!
